The Pilates method developed originally in the 1900s and was the lifetime work of the creator Mr Joseph Pilates.

Using controlled and precise movements, and focus on correct spinal and pelvic alignment, the pilates student will develop a strong awareness of the importance of their power house (deep abdominal,spinal and pelvic muscles) and, that from a strong core comes the benefit of good posture, balance and a healthy spine. Then comes the ability to work other parts of the body with more efficiency, developing stronger, leaner muscles as well as improving overall flexibility, joint mobility, and shoulder and pelvis stability.

Emphasis is on quality of movement, not quantity. Each exercise is performed with complete commitment, aiming to awaken and strengthening any weaker muscles that may cause imbalances in the body.

Another important part of Pilates is correct breathing. Pilates students will learn breathing techniques to connect with every movement to maximise the benefits of each exercise.

 

 

 

Group Mat Work Pilates Classes : 6 -8 week courses:

(Term times only)

Our Pilates classes are for mixed ability levels and beginners are most welcome. Please note; these classes are not suitable for pregnancy.

Our teachers Tara & Amanda are both knowledgeable and experienced. Participants are encouraged to do only what they can and modifications for exercises are given throughout classes where needed.

How it works:

The Studio SE6 is a members only Studio, we do not offer drop in sessions. All courses must be pre booked and paid for to secure a place on a specific course.

Spaces in classes are limited to create a comfortable environment and to ensure maximum attention to all members.

If a course is not full to capacity, new members can join at any time within the course duration, and will pay a pro rata course fee.

Trial Class:

We offer everyone a one off pay as you go trial class before committing to a full course.

Please see the bottom of this page for details on booking and costs of a trial class.

 

How to book a space on a Pilates course:

The Studio SE6 does not offer drop in classes, all spaces need to be pre booked.

What to bring:

Exercise mats and any equipment needed for our Pilates classes are supplied by the studio. However participants may bring their own mat if preferred. 

 

Facilities:

There is a changing area and toilet at the Studio. We do not have any shower facilities.

The Studio is fully matted, heated and air conditioned.

Drinking water is available to refill bottles etc.

 

What to wear:

Loose but not too baggy (so teachers are able to assess alignment during exercises) comfortable clothing such as a vest, long sleeve jersey top, t shirt, leggings, shorts or track bottoms.

We also recommend wearing a warm layer such as a sweat shirt that can be discarded when you warm up. 

 

Arrival to first class:

Please arrive for your first class 10 mins before the scheduled start time, to allow time to speak to the teacher and go through any questions you may have and/or to fill out a health questionnaire which can also be downloaded and brought with you

The studio entrance closes 5 mins before class start time. Entrance is not permitted after this time.

 

Parking:

Culverley Road is a residential road and parking is extremely difficult both on the road and the surrounding area during the week before 5pm. Please do bare this in mind if you are considering driving.

 

Bikes:

Push bikes can be brought through the main entrance and placed on the bike rack within the studio grounds. Bikes will be completely safe here.

 

Public Transport:

If you are travelling by public transport, please check out our contact us page, where you will find a list of buses that stop within a 5-7 min walk from the Studio.

We are an easy 10 min walk from both Catford and Catford Bridge rail stations.

 

Health Questionnaire:

Before your first class you will need to fill out a basic health questionnaire.

If you do have any medical concerns/conditions or injuries, we would need to know when you reserve your space, before attending your first class as this may affect your participation.

It is important for your saftey that if you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions, you contact us to ensure the class is suitable for you. 

In some cases, where a medical condition/injury/illness is present we will ask for your GP to sign a doctors consent form, before you can participate in one of our classes, this is for you own safety.

These classes are not suitable for pregnancy.

Payment Notes:

Payment is accepted by Cheque, made payable to Fitness Inc Ltd, bank transfer (details available on request) or cash.

Preferred method of payment is by Bank transfer where possible.

All  cash or cheque payments to be paid directly to Sophie or Nick Tsavalos and not the class teacher.

 

 

Pilates Course Fees:

£48.00  6 week course ( x1 session weekly )

£56.00  7 week course   ( x1 session weekly )

£64.00  8 week course   (x1 session weekly )

 Course fees will be pro-rata for new members joining after the first week of any course.

 

 

Reserving a space on a Pilates course:

  • All spaces on a course must be pre booked
  • All students will be notified at the end of each course when the next one will run.
  •  Full payment for each course is required to secure a place.
  • Payment must be received on/by the first session of each course If payment is not received by this time, we can not guarantee a space on any course. This may mean returning to a waiting list.
  • We kindly ask members to be inform us before the next course begins if they NO longer require a space. This enables us to fill the place from our waiting list in time for start of the new course.

 

Pilates course fees /payment terms:

  • Payment is accepted by Cheque, made payable to Fitness Inc Ltd, bank transfer (details on request) or cash. (Unfortunately we are unable to accept card payments)
  • Fees are due on or by the first session of each course in order to reserve your space in class.
  • If you wish to pay with cash, this must be done on or by the first session of each course. (This is to avoid us having to chase payment, and possibly being left with an empty space that we could have offered to someone from the waiting list)
  • If you are unable to attend the first session of a course, we require payment via bank transfer to secure your place
  • All cash/cheque payments must be paid directly to Sophie, not the studio instructor.

 

Drop in sessions:

  • We do not offer drop in sessions, due to limited space.
  • All spaces must be pre booked on a course by course basis.
  • Entrance to our studio can not be gained without prior knowledge of participant attendance.

Missed Sessions:

  • Please note: We do not offer refunds or transfer missed classes to another  course, this includes absence due to illness, late work hours, shifts, holidays etc .
  • when sessions are missed, our Members are welcome to book into any of the other classes (depending on availability) on our timetable. This includes Yoga.
  • All missed session must be made up within the duration of the course in which they were missed.

 

If you would like to try a class before committing to a space, we can offer a trial session.

This must be pre booked with us. Please contact us to check availability for your preferred class.

The cost of the trial session is £10.00 Payable on the day.

If we are unable to offer you a trial session in your preferred class, you will be contacted you as soon as a space becomes available.
